05 – Current carrying capacity of printed tracks

Example

A track width of 1 mm and a track thickness of 70 μm give a cross-sectionial area of A = 0.07 mm2.

A current load of I = 5 A, in case of vertical installation of the board and at normal convection cooling, will get a temperature increase of 20 °C.

Empirically determined values of the current carrying capacity of printed tracks, depending on the track width, for track thicknesses of d = 35 μm and 70 μm, at a temperature limit of T < 60 °C.

These diagrams correspond to average measurements.
